Independence, Accountability, Transparency

The Delaware Office of the Inspector General was established by statute in 2025 as a nonpartisan, independent agency responsible for detecting and deterring fraud, waste, mismanagement, corruption, and any other abuse of governmental resources that harms the public interest. As an independent watchdog, we work to hold people and institutions accountable and to advance transparency, protecting the public interest and enhancing public trust in government.

Reporting to the OIG

State employees and others perform a valuable service to the government and the public by reporting to the Office of the Inspector General when they see something they reasonably think is wrong. Persons who report such concerns should never be retaliated against for doing so.

These core principles animate the work of the Delaware Office of the Inspector General (OIG). Delaware is a relatively small state, but the OIG relies on people bringing forward concerns. You can report suspected wrongdoing as indicated on the How to Report page on this website. We will protect your confidentiality as detailed on that page, or you may choose to report anonymously and not identify yourself at all.

About Delaware’s First Office of the Inspector General

The non-partisan, independent Delaware Office of the Inspector General was created pursuant to Senate Bill No. 4, which received broad bipartisan support in the Delaware General Assembly. It was signed into law by Governor Matt Meyer on August 14, 2025. The First State’s first Inspector General, the Hon. Robert P. Storch, was nominated by the Governor following a bipartisan selection process. IG Storch was confirmed by the Senate and sworn into office on May 7, 2026. The OIG works independently but collaboratively with others engaged in government oversight, coordinating as appropriate to promote efficiency and avoid duplication of work.
